Terms of use

The app

Ferry is free software, provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It will be released under the GNU General Public License v3. Ferry is in early release: keep your USB drive — and anything irreplaceable — safe until you have checked that your files are back.

Your part

• Keep your backup password. Without it nobody, including us, can open your backup.
• Keep your restore code if you use the cloud copy without email. We can't recover it for you.
• Ferry erases the USB drive you choose. Make sure it holds nothing you need.

The cloud copy

• It's a temporary bridge, not permanent storage: copies are deleted 30 days after upload, or earlier when you delete or restore them.
• It's free for now, with limits (up to 50 GB, one copy at a time). We may change the limits or the price for new backups; existing copies keep the terms they were made under.
• Store only your own backups made by Ferry. We may remove copies that break these terms or the law.
• We work to keep the service running but can't guarantee it always will be — your USB drive stays the primary backup.

Liability

As far as the law allows, Ferry and its authors aren't liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect damage from using the app or the cloud copy.

Changes

When these terms change, the date above changes with them. Material changes are announced on this site.
